Imam Faiz Vaid
Imam of Islamic Center of San Francisco California
Imam Faiz Vaid has been serving the community as an Imam, youth engagement coordinator, and relief worker.
He completed the memorization of the Quran in 2011 from in Mississauga, Canada. He thereafter completed the first four years of his Alimmiyat program at Jame Abu Bakr Masjid in Toronto under the tutelage of Shaikh Qasim Ingar. He then traveled to England to complete his final two years in Darul Uloom Al Arabiyah Al Islamiyah in Bury, England. He studied under the supervision of many senior scholars including the late Shaikh Yusuf Motala (Rahimahullah).
After completing his studies, he has taken up many responsibilities in serving the Muslim community. This includes serving as an Imam, teaching evening Madrasah clasess, serving as a Hifz Class teacher and as a Funeral Director at ISNA CANADA where he coordinated the Janazah and burials throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
Maulana Faiz has lead multiple youth initiatives as a Youth Coordinator at his local masjid. These include organizing youth retreats and sporting activities for highschool and university students.
He has also led many relief initiatives locally and abroad. He founded a charity organization known as Third Pillar. Third Pillar provides charitable aid to multiple individuals and organizations such as homeless shelters, low income neighborhoods, and indigenous communities. Third Pillar also runs international relief projects which include earthquake relief in Turkey and serving the Muslim community in Jamaica by establishing a maktab and supporting locals Masjids and Mussalahs.
May Allah accept his efforts in serving the Muslim community and the community at large.
Ikramuddin Syed, MD CCFP

Dr. Ikramuddin Syed grew up in Thorncliffe Park in the East York area. He currently practices Medicine through his Pulse Urgent Care Centers.
From his early years he was involved in community outreach while trying to enhance social services. In high school at Marc Garneau Collegiate, he was involved in a project through the Thorncliffe Neighborhood Office which ultimately helped establish the Jenner Jean-Marie Community Center. This civic involvement continued throughout Undergraduate education and later on in Medical School, where he established a free medical clinic for those without private insurance.
Shortly after completing his Medical studies, Dr. Syed travelled to the Tsunami struck regions of Indonesia, spending 6 months providing medical aid and helping rebuild the medical infrastructure in Aceh province.
Since then he has travelled around the globe on various medical relief missions, including Haiti, Pakistan, Somalia and the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh.
While being heavily involved with International efforts, he has also maintained a keen involvement in local causes. Establishing a medical network providing services for incoming refugees, aiding with settlement programs and creating a program to provide essential family needs for all incoming refugees into Ontario.
He has also been instrumental in establishing one of the first culturally/religiously relevant mental health centers in the GTA and continues to be on the Board of Directors.
Dr. Syed has collaborated with many local institutions, providing didactics on a myriad of health and social topics. He continues to be involved with outreach programs and is now a board member of Third Pillar.
Irshad Mankrod
Construction Permits Manager
Irshad grew up in Thorncliffe Park and now resides in the neighboring community of Flemingdon Park with his family. Living in this area, Irshad has seen firsthand the needs of the community and has remained involved in many different initiatives to address those needs.
His work as a Permits Manager gives him the experience that is needed to coordinate with multiple different organizations who are all working towards a single goal. This experience is imperative when working within a non-profit organization who is reliant on other organizations.
Despite being a father of three, Irshad continues to find time to play an active role in his community as his late father did and serves as a board member of Third Pillar.
Ahmed Khota, OCT
Educator
Having grown up in the neighbourhood of Thorncliffe Park, Ahmed Khota is passionate about giving back to his community. To this end, he has volunteered and worked with many organizations throughout the Thorncliffe and Flemingdon areas. As a teacher at Valley Park Middle School, he has a gift for connecting with youth and inspiring them to bring about change.
Working to fulfill his Islamic responsibility to his community, he co-founded Third Pillar in order to ensure his neighbours do not go hungry. When he is not at work or with his family, Ahmed can often be found at the hockey arena both playing and cheering on his daughters. Well known in the community, Ahmed rarely leaves home without meeting a plethora of friends and students along his way.
Imran Mohamed, OCT
Educator
Imran is a high school teacher in Toronto and the winner of the Prime Ministers Award of Teaching Excellence. At his school he has a student organization that focuses on making a difference locally and globally. The group works on various causes locally and with Imran and his colleagues they have also travelled to South America on volunteer trips. In his Business Studies and Computer Science classes you will find a common thread of social entrepreneurship and how students can give back to their communities.
Imran has been involved in different initiatives in the community and in that capacity serves as a board member with Third Pillar. Imran grew up in Thorncliffe Park and now lives in Scarborough with his family.
